The 9th Regional Gap Journalists Union Society awards were presented in Şanlıurfa. At the ceremony where interest was high, MB Holding was deemed worthy of the “Most Successful Holding of the Year” award for its investments in geothermal energy in Turkey. MB Holding Board Chairman Muharrem Balat, who stated that they will always be worthy of this award and that they are very proud of being given the award, said in his statement on the subject; “Electricity production from geothermal energy is a very new event in our country. Geothermal energy, which has come to the fore in the Aegean region and is not known by everyone, is a very convenient resource to use. In addition, geothermal energy, which does not produce waste and does not breathe carbon, is an important facility that prevents foreign currency from leaving our country.”
Stating that they have proven themselves in terms of quality and reliability in everything they do, Balat said, “The GAP awards are an indication of how right we are. We are fulfilling our duty by meeting Turkey’s energy needs in the facilities we have established in Aydın. As MB Holding, we will continue our investments in this field without interruption.”
Local Power Geothermal
Muharrem Balat, who stated that the consecutive increases in electricity prices affect everyone and that electricity produced from geothermal energy has gained importance because it is domestic, renewable and cheap; “Geothermal energy, our national resource that is both environmentally friendly and not dependent on foreign sources, is used for many purposes and contributes to society and the economy. We aim to both create employment and reduce costs by evaluating these areas in our country. We have crowned our goals with this award. MB Holding is a big family with hundreds of employees. Gap awards are not awards received by a few people but by our family.”

The award ceremony, which was also attended by Ferhat Göçer, who was awarded the artist of the year with his newly released album “Seni Sevmeye Aşıkım”, was colored by Nazlı Ilıcak with the writer of the year award and Erkan Tan with the TV discussion program of the year. The famous name of the ceremony, journalist and writer Nazlı Ilıcak, stated that she has been awarded many awards in her 43 years of journalism and said that she was happy to receive the GAP award. In the ceremony, many famous names such as TBMM Speaker Cemil Çiçek, Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Şahin, Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Çelik, Journalist Serdar Arseven, Programmer Latif Şimşek, Azerbaijan Women’s Association President Sedegat Pashayeva, RTÜK Deputy President Prof. Hasan Tahsin Fendoğlu as well as the most successful journalists of the year working in the GAP region were also awarded.
At the ceremony where 33 awards were given, the surprise that awaited the individuals and institution managers who were deemed worthy of the GAP Oscar for their success was a trip to the historical and touristic places of Şanlıurfa.
